Quite why you'd want to experience the joys of working in a supermarket during your free time I don't know. Nevertheless, Supermarket Mania has proved a popular iPhone game in the App Store.
You play the role of eager shop worker Nikki, who must keep the customers of five stores happy by stacking the shelves and making sure the shop is clean and tidy. The game is set out in the form of a comic-style story in which Nikki and her pal try to make it big in the supermarket world, despite the growing mechanization of the industry in their town.
Supermarket Mania proves to be a hectic game of time management in which you need to make split-second decisions such as which shelves to stack first according to what the customers want, and whether to give priority to picking up dropped litter, or get new stock from the store room to put out. Yes, working in a supermarket is a stressful occupation.
The graphics and music in Supermarket Mania are bright, cute and fun, and it's the sort of presentation that will probably appeal to teenage girls. However, the game does get very repetitive quickly and you'll probably find Supermarket Mania gives you a bit of a headache after a while.
Supermarket Mania is good fun to play but don't expect it to relax you!
